Hey Dudes, Here Are Your Jobs At Nuptials
By Ken Heath
What do dudes do during a wedding if they're part of the wedding party? We're dudes, how should we know? Well, I have a list of the responsibilities for guys who are part of the wedding. (The Groom knows his part, I hope).
Best Man Gets To Do This...
-
Give any assistance necessary in Ceremony and Reception planning. You're the Valet, the Concierge and the Road Manager all rolled into one!
-
Make arrangements for the Bachelor Party.
-
Help the Groom dress, (you KNOW he needs it!) and accompany him to the Ceremony.
-
Make sure the Ushers know and understand their duties.
-
Stand next to the Groom during the Ceremony.
-
Hold the Bride’s ring until needed during the Ceremony.
-
Distribute fees, as necessary, to the Clergy, Organist, Musicians and DeeJays, (having them in marked envelopes helps).
-
At the reception, Dance with the Bride, Attendants & Mothers.
-
Work with the DJ to keep the Bride and Groom together for the next event/photo opportunity, (be sure to go up and introduce yourself when you arrive at the reception).
-
Help with the Honeymoon details- hold car keys, keep track of plane tickets, transport luggage, etc.
-
Make sure all the guy's formal wear is returned to the store complete with all the pieces.
The Ushers Get To Do This...
-
Assist with pre-wedding planning as necessary.
-
Pay for their own formal wear, transportation and lodging.
-
Attend rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
-
Assist in decorating the reception site.
-
Arrive early at the wedding site to help with anything that needs to be done.
-
After seating the Mothers, Unroll the aisle runner to prepare for the Bride to be escorted down.
-
Provide transportation for the Bridesmaids.
-
Dance with Bridesmaids at reception.
-
Help decorate the getaway car.
-
Seat the Bride’s guests to the left and the Groom’s guests to the right, (right and left as you walk down the aisle from the rear of the room).
